  Anybody answered personal adds from dating services?

  i am friends with a divorced woman.....(true to myself, because i have once been one i share my time with one so she isn't so blue and "alone").

  she visits me and shows me her online dating sites and the things "guys" say about themselves.

  it's quite entertaining and we laugh together as she shares me her online "winks".. one was from a guy that is "fiesty and sassy".............

  My divorced 45 year old daughter is verry attractive but she has gained a little weight over the years..being a blond and the way she dresses a lot of guys hit on her.

  She answered some personal ads on the computer but when she did she sent pictures of her when she was Mrs. Illinois. That was in 1985?.

  I wanted to say"What will they think when they meet you in person?"

  I think she had 2 dates but apparently they didn't pan out..she never mentioned the on line dating again..

  Thank Goodness!

  Paragraphs - just do it

  i am not being picky or having a go at anyone.. i love this site.....it is my distraction at the end of the day and there are so many wise comments that i love to think about.. but too many of you compose posts with huge paragraphs.

  it's like opening the page of a 'phone book.. when i see such a post, i know it is going to be too hard for me to find the place on the screen if i am distracted..........so i don't even bother to read it.. if you want someone to read what you are writing, make it easy for them.

  otherwise the potential reader's eyes will glaze over when they see a humungous "telephone page" and they will skip on to something easier to read.. i know that i do.. when you have a new thought, start a new paragraph.

  Concerning your post..I care not HOW people post..I am just interested in WHAT they have to say. Not how they print it.

  I'll struggle to read it if it makes sense.

  After all..I did learn to read when I was a small child..Paragraphs or not..

  i was just watching larry king live on cnn about these type of people.

  it was said that they are only about 25% accurate.

  have you ever had any experience with a psychics or what is your thoughts on these kind of people.

  I watched Montel yesterday and he had Sylvia Brown on. Just watching her makes me Ill!..She is so full of it. She spouts off all this goofy stuff. I can't believe so many people believe her stuff.

  What about follow-ups to show she can actually solve crimes?

  It already happened...my husband of 45 years died 2 years ago.That crushed me. Not being very religious I don't have any hope of ever seeing him again...

  You cry hysterically..you scream..you withdraw...then you cry some more...but it doesn't bring them back.

  That's a very tramatic thing to face after so long of being with one person.

  Having lost both parents and a FIL I was very fond of...and then hubby..I feel like nothing can hurt me now. The worst has happened. My kids are all in their 40's now. If something happened to one of them..It might send me over the top..A person can only take so much pain you know?

  But life goes on and we try to cope. What else can we do?..Survival is in us all somehow ...believe it or not. We hurt but somehow we manage to cope.

  i'm here on this forum to find as many truths as is possible relating to jwism.

  i'm not really here to stick the boot in although once in a while my emotions might get the better of me.

  When I first started coming to the X boards I was amazed at all the info the people on them had. I was also shocked. I had learned things I never knew as a witness about the religion.

  I believed it all! My JW hubby used to mock me and say they were all a bunch of liers. So I decided to do research..a lot of it. I looked up a lot of what was quoted on the links that people on the boards had recommended. I had hubby's old JW books and looked it all up. It was all true. I had it in the JW's own words. But the older books were sort of shoved to the back. No one talked about them(The JW's).

  I learned how and when the JW's started their religion...how much they have changed their beliefs, in spite of it being called new light..it was indeed changes in their beliefs!

  I learned that the year 1975 wasn't the first time they had said time was up. There were many many more!

  They had dates changed..scripture meanings changed to fit their new beliefs..and so on.

  I learned that each congregation had their own beliefs and some tolerated some practices where others didn't. The unity in beliefs they loved to brag about so much was not true.

  I was glad I took the time to research most of the things quoted to me.

  It validated my feeling that something was terribly wrong with that "Religion". very little of it was "The Truth".

  Prostitution and Marijuana

  i feel that as a country we waste so much time and money fighting prostitution and marijuana use.

  not that i think these things are something everyone should use, but the fact that we make these illegal and yet other things happen that are the same thing, or worse.

  for example, in nevada, outside the city limits, it is legal for prostitution.

  I always heard that 1 Marijuana cigarette is equal to 10 regular cigarettes? That would be like half a pack in one smoke?..

  Then it could also be laced..some of the stuff they lace it with could kill you a lot quicker...

  My Grandkids have a lot of free alone time on the comp. Each has their own computer(side by side) upstairs in the loft area. Their parents can't see them and they are usually too busy to check much. After seeing the Dateline show on internet predators I came down hard on my daughter. These kids are 15 (Boy)and 14.(Girl) A dangerous age.Well telling her about the show and having her watch the rerun, she started questioning the kids. Seems the girl has talked to strangers on the computor. Her Mom was shocked!..The kids are usually pretty naive and the girl is at an age where she loves attention. I was worried. That is why I talked to her. They are home alone quite a bit and I was afraid they may get curious on the internet. Plus be easy targets for some nut . They have ways of getting info from the kids on where they live and if they are alone, etc.

  I was happy my grandaughter finally admitted to talking with strangers... her Mom swore she didn't and was quite surprised to hear she did.

  I couldn't believe the guys that do this. They looked like ordinary people..not nutjobs...and I was surprised at how cunning they were.

  You just can't supervise kids enough these days and yet you don't want to make basket cases out of them by warning them all the time...It was so much easier when my kids were little.

  Can a girl have short hair and be feminine? ( a tad bit fluffy)

  well, we all know it is possible, but when i have short hair, i never quite feel feminine.

  upon attempting to grow my hair out, i really hit a bad patch of nasty hair..so the other day, i examined my lifestyle, and obligations and really thought on it.

  .........so i wacked it all off.

  I like it and I'm next!..

  I'm sick of long hair. My husband always wanted it long..so I kept it long..now that he has passed away I'm ready to chop it off!

  Nothing worse than eating something and pulling a long hair out of your mouth!!!!!! Gross....

  cranberry butter tart squares.

  this recipe is from "chatelaine" magazine a couple of years ago.12 cup brown sugar 12 cup butter at room temperature 1 12 cups all-purpose flour 4 eggs 2 tsp vanilla generous pinch of salt 2/3 cup granulated sugar 12 cup flour 2/3 cup corn syrup 1 12 cups golden raisins 12 cup coarsely chopped fresh cranberries (slightly thawed frozen ones before chopping).
